About

I'm Felipe Cabral. I live in Stockholm and I work on data and AI systems.

I started in Porto Alegre in 2011, co-founding Engage, a studio that built early-stage products and helped ignite a lot of what became the Brazilian startup scene. That work turned into data science consulting, and then into Serenata de Amor and a run of civic tech projects across Brazil, Italy and Canada: turning unreadable government datasets into files a journalist could open, and rebuilding Montreal's open data portal with Datopian.

I moved to Sweden and moved through engineering leadership. Technical director at Essen, CTO at Ares Habitats, then consulting through Accelerated Growth AB at IKEA and now Tetra Pak.

The through-line is that I keep ending up in the same place: somewhere there's data nobody can act on, and someone has to build the thing that makes it usable.

I studied business administration at PUCRS, not engineering, which meant learning to build by building. I've practised Aikido for over twenty years. That's had more influence on how I work than any methodology I've read, mostly around not forcing things that aren't ready to move.
